That is one of the funniest things I've ever seen, this little feature. IT's BASICALLY a popularity contest; if you like someone, you exhalt them; if you DON'T like someone, you smite them! The higher your number is, the more you are liked, the lower your nuber is, the less liked you are...I THINK it can go negative.

It can. I know - I sent someone's negative on another proboard (partly cos he was an idiot, partly cos he annoyed me and partly cos I was bored).
It is - in my opinion - quite a stupid system.

Eh... points system all over again I don't mind it, really - stupid but amusing, so long as we don't get hung up over it.

Considering that most bulletin boards have a feature such as this, I am very confident that it is a feature that may be turned off. It may or may not be beneficial to the boards, but as it was earlier put, it is, in a way, a popularity contest.
It is in no way a points system considering you will not increase or decrease your karma with each post you do.
EDIT: And upon furthor research, I have found that the administrator is, in fact, able to disable the karma feature and also able enable or disable a warning feature if a given member chooses to act unaccordingly. But I do not believe we should have to worry about that.

It's really not like the points system from YWS at all, I think, since all it does is show how much some people like you and it doesn't have anything to do with participation in certain forums or earn you the right to post in others.

The points were more fun... I doubt you can have a contest on this. But still!

so the exalt and smite thing the the karma, ahh i've been wondering, any limit on how many times you can exalt or smite someone, and does it tell you if someone exalts or smites you and who they are?

If I'm not mistaken, you can do this once per person.

No. You can do it once every one hour to who ever you want. It can be banned because on another forum (which I am in love with) uses proboards and banned them because they weren't using the system right.
