5!!!!!! Thats way too few! I'll try my best though.
1. Pink Floyd 2. Yes 3. Guns N' Roses 4. The Who 5. Eric Johnson (not a band, but an amazing guitarist)
Didn't make the cut (just the close ones): Deep Purple, THe Doors, Red Hot Chili Peppers, King Crimson, Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble, Slash's Snakepit, Jethro Tull, Jeff Beck, Iron Maiden, and many more.

I agree with EBM. But then, I'm biased. I really don't like: a)North American bands in general b)The 'usual' genres (I dunno, Punk, Rap, Rock being predominate I guess)
Nah, give me *European*(and Japanese, I suppose) Metal, Industrial, Electronica (although I do like Orgy, which orginated from L.A.)
-Blind Guardian -Rammstein -Laibach -Rhapsody -Dragonland
(although I like all the music I listen to equally-but this is a general idea of my faovurite groups)

Wow, people like some crappy bands these days. DO NOT DIS THE HOLY SHRINE OF PROGRESSIVE ROCK!!!!!! Okay. So now that I've gotten that out of the way, what bands are you specifically refering to? Do you mean they are not talented or that you just don't like their style? As you might have noticed, I am a progressive rock lover, although I also listen to classical, jazz, blues, and many types of rock/metal. But I don't see anything wrong with the majority of these bands. Pink Floyd, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, and many other classic rock bands that were commonly mentioned are still remembered today because of their musical achievements, their talent, and their popularity. The Red Hot Chili Peppers (a name a saw in many peoples responses to this question) are also a very longlasting and talented group. So am curious how you define "crappy." EDIT: OOPs. I just saw your 5 top bands and realized that you are in fact a fan of classic rock bands, some of which I mentioned. Still, I would like to know what you meant by saying "Wow, people like some crappy bands these days" and why you think you have the authority to decide what constitues a "crappy band."

I love all these rockers we've got at TSR I know its so awsome! I would expect with the ages of people on here most of their favorite bands would be modern punk/emo/screamo/crap-o stuff. I do find it humerous when people like bands such as Pink Floyd, The Eagles, The Doors, Led Zep, The Who, King Crimson, Blue Oyster Cult, etc etc etc and then they also like some modern band which has about 1/1000000 of the talent of any single member of the bands previously listed. I didn't really see too much of that here, but I know people at school like that. They are like "I love Led Zeppelin, he is sooooo cool. O, and by the way, I am a huge Brittany Spears fan!" Maybe that was little too radical of an example, but you probably get the point now. FYI: Led Zeppelin is a band, NOT a person! People make me want to strangle them when they think that Led Zeppelin is one person.
