What is going to happen to TSR? I have no idea what Dusky's plans are, but I guess it'll just give people a choice. I have no doubt in my mind that some people are going to prefer TSR over YWS, and I'm sure there'll even be a few who will post exclusively at TSR. So if Duskglimmer keeps this site open, it'll live on. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have the time to keep running TSR. Come September I'm going to be entering my senior year of highschool and I have a lot that I still need to get done before I graduate. Between my writing, looking at colleges, finishing all my credits and just being able to spend time with my family before I leave for college, I don't think that I'll be able to continue to administrate here. What I'm hoping to do, is keep the site up and running until September to give everyone a chance to comfortably move back to YWS and then lock down the site. You'll still be able to view all the posts and stories, but all threads will be locked and you won't be able to make any new threads. I'm hoping that will be acceptable to everyone.

I can deal with that. It will be a much more comfortable transition period than the previous one.

Like giant refugee history scrapebook. cool Oh. I thought you could do like the Karma. Dusky can type in our Karma points if she wants to. I thought you could type in our posts. And BTW that is a BIG database for YWS. It was huge when i went on it and you managed to back it all up. your computer must have like OMG amounts of space.

I'm fairly sure, Adam, that Nate rents hosting space so the database is in fact stored on a remote computer somewhere else. Which is why it costs money to keep YWS up.

Jack is right on with regards to the database. It is stored on a server somewhere in California. When I was using GoDaddy, I had to pay at least $39.95 once the database passed a 100 mb. But with Yahoo, the only limit to the database is the size given to you by the hosting plan. That means I can pay only $11.95 a month and have a database that is 20 gigabytes in size (YWS' was 358 mb before being pared down).
For those who fret about their posts, don't worry! It's just a number after all. Plus, I'm adding a few things that will (hopefully) make up for the absence.

*raises eyebrow* intriguing
I need to modify my profile anyway. I've grown quite a bit sine i joined you guys. Alexander is still my symbol for light but i think Vivi matches my persona much better.
To think. I found YWS because of writers digest top 101 writers websites. *reminiscing*
Hey Nate, did you ever get that email from Jenna?

Aha! Not that I'm ecstatic, but being on YWS for so long (if a little under a year can be counted as 'long') has made the TSR experience a tad rustic, and a little un-luxurious But I'm not one to complain! and commend Duskglimmer for putting this together (although I'm sure it would have happened indefinately). But anyway Kudos Nate

Darn... I suppose this means I'll have to start completely afresh, doesn't it? (I've only ever known TSR.) That's somewhat discouraging - though I have to say, the comments here have me intrigued...

YAY! *exalts Nate although there is no point* I have some reasons why the 'transfer posts' thingy is not such a good idea... (waaaaay too late, but I just wanted to say something about it to feel somewhat authorative ) 1. People could have posted some of their stories from the YWS here when it first opened 2. New members don't have YWS profiles to transfer them to... 3. Randomness, Lounge, Blogs, that stuff ain't the best to carry to the 'New' YWS... WHEEEE EDIT: Will I still be able to use the Japanese characters in my profile name and location?

EDIT: Will I still be able to use the Japanese characters in my profile name and location? I have no clue. You'll have to test it out and see, but I do know how to enable them if it doesn't work. So if it doesn't work, pm me and I'll add it on.
