Well, the mods are picked to do their job ...
... well I can see my idea isn't liked, but anyway.

*squirms guiltily* Sorry, Dusky... I know for certain I've contributed to the problem... Summer got to me. But I'll definitely try to do more critiquing.

Why does Randomness even BELONG on a writing site? *is confused* But then again...most people aren't workaholics.

I'd like to see these drastic measures being put in place.
By the way, have you considered at least following a similar idea to Nate's? We have oru own version of points here - Karma. This could very easily be used. When people critique, they should get karma.
I'm not sure about coding, but I'm still sure this could be done.
Maybe loss of karma if too much posting done in random?
Basically, as we saw with YWS, the point system didn't actually affect the flow of posts, and I certainly redoubled my efforts to critique, as points were a way to see what you were doing on a site. Right now, we need change, and I think this is a useable idea.

OI!!
I know about a points system. Got it on me own site. It'll start working immediately, and it'll be like we had it all along. It's also really easy to install. I can get it if we want.
And I know about a chat system too.

If you have something that you think will work, please PM me.
As for the chat system, the moderators and I have already decided that we're not putting one up for now.

Some of my thinking, take it for what you will... This is a society of young writers, correct? something like that? That means this is where all the 'writers' assemble, and otherwise congregate for various purposes. Though writing was the origional intent, its not like the thing is being abused, is it? I'm gonna undoubtedly sound moronic, but, what's so bad about the numbers? if you said anything upwards of oh, *picking semi-random number* 60%, I'd see your point more strongly, but in the mean time, i have to say, so what?

^^ If we don't fix it now, you will see your 60%. Prevention is key.

Precisely.
I've been on other writing sites where the randomness has taken over the entire site. That hasn't happened here, but that doesn't mean that it can't if we don't start posting more the in the literary forums.

I have an idea, but it's not the best...
Why do we not just make a new MESSAGE BOARD devoted to the randomness of us writers? We could have 2 seperate sites, one devoted strictly to writing and critiquing, and one devoted to... well... being undevoted to one thing... That way, if people want to read purely stories, poems, and works, they go to one site, and if they want to 'mingle' (if you can really do that on the internet), chat, and have fun with their fellow members...

Eek, that sounded as if I wanted everyone to join either/or...
I meant it as if you can join both, but if you want to read stories at one point in time, go to the writing one, and if you feel like chatting, visit the other one...
