Well, I'm on the planning council for a local christian youth group, and I've been put in charge of one of the workshops this Thursday..
I've decided to go with group scriptwriting as it combines creative writing with drama, and most people there seem to enjoy the drama related workshops.
So.. I was just wondering whether people had any scriptwriting tips, or just any ideas for plots etc. (preferably christian message or moral to story), as I thought I'd better write a few ideas down in case my group have a lack of imagination on Thursday.
Thanks,
--Kay

How young is this youth group?
And is there going to be a performance or are you going to teach them how to write scripts?

It's not so much that I'm teaching them.. but we're going to write a script that they can perform next week.
They're between 13 and 18.

Something you might want to consider is getting a bunch of biblical stories out and creating modern versions of the stories. Have them act it out in various ways to get a feeling of how they want to do it. I would keep the dialogue rather simple, because it's easier to memorize that way.
Also, I love improv, so I might not even "write" a script. If the purpose of the play is a quick performance on a moral lesson, then it might not even be necessary. For example, I did this thingy for the prodigal son, and basically it was improv. It was also a blast to do because we had an idea what was going to happen, but things changed in the performance which really made it awesome.

Ooh, I like that idea of going through the bible for ideas and that..
The talk beforehand is going to be on expectations so I'll look for something relating to that.
We normally do things more improvised, but I want this to be about creative writing as well as drama, so it'd be cool to write things down in script form.
