I have a really hard time being descriptive when I'm writing stories. I have a tendency of making them long but leaving out details. I have a clear view of whats going on in the story but I have problems put things into words Any tips?
Thanks in advance.

Here's something I do to get the creative juices flowing. There are two ways to do this--either you can come up with a "freeze frame" from your story (which can be challenging to keep uniform), or you can use an actual painting (Art.Com has tons of great stuff, if you have nothing readily at hand). Now describe your chosen freeze frame/painting as you would to someone who was blind (don't write a vignette about what's happening, though), rinse, and repeat as necessary.
Hope it helps!
