Okay, personally I'm sort of a xanga fiend. ;D and I was thinking about these Lord of the Rings live journals I'd read ages ago that were supposed to be like the character's 'diary' and then I thought "Hey! I'll make a xanga for my main character!" So that's what I'm doing. Your character doesn't need to keep a journal in the story, but it's just so that you can get their thoughts about their various situations in a place where they can be uncensored and stuff... Just thought I'd share my little idea

oh, I have a variation of that I use. I'll take something that's happened to me, and throw a character in the situation instead. I've been doing lots of experimenting with it, too, and I've attempted some fanfiction, too, as a way to play with character developement. Stick them in a situation that's already decided, not by you (the author), and write their reactions...
Yours is less messy, though. Ta, Delo, might just have to convery my old xanga for just thsi purpose.

I've done that, too. I have a special LJ account I use only for writing. Sometimes I'll write about my writing, and sometimes I'll do writing exercises. One of my characters is in the Royal Army, so it's fun (and interesting) to see where he's been and what he's dealt with.
