There is no point in having a Randomness section. It's random.

True, tassen, very true.
Anyway, Dusky, aren't we at least doing a LITTLE better?

Not really. A look at the literary forums shows that. It's really pathetic.

Hey guys, hate to break it to you, but this IS a writing site. (Oh, how many times have I said that?) If you want to have your randomness threads last forever, make your own forum. It's that simple. It just doesn't belong here, really. It's good for blowing off steam or whatever when you're burned out, and it builds a community to a tiny degree, but it's not necessary for this site to thrive. How about you guys check out the Writing Activities if you wanna play games? Or create your own storybook.
It's not like she's taking all the fun out of the site, and frankly, I'm a little disappointed at the negative reaction... Not entirely surprised, just disappointed.

Actually, this is a site revisiting YWS, and in a way is therefore a mirror image of YWS. YWS had randomness; this has randomness.
I remember the original point of this site was to bring the community together.
However, it doesn't really matter, I just get fed up of the "this is a writing site" people always says.

*sigh* Me too. This really isn't accomplishing anything, all of this...
Dusky says something needs to happen it's going to happen. We don't necessarily need to welcome it, but hey... it's still gonna happen.
Just one more question though: Is this permenant or is this just until forum activity improves?

Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree with you at all, Dusky, but I still don't see how this will stop random topics being posted in the Lounge instead. Or will that be deleted every week as well?

DD - I'm not sure yet if it will be permanent.
Skye - the Randomness will still be around to be posted in, and threads that get posted in the wrong place, can be moved to randomness. Threads just won't stick around for forever.

You might not like it, Ari, but debates are usually the things that spawn the best ideas. If we never challenged anyone's opinions, or cast doubt in someone's certainty, the world would be a much worse place.

While I agree with that statement in general, Jack, I think it's silly how much ill will has spread just because Dusky's clearing the randomness forum once a week.

I think people are just attached to the randomness forum. And this might not be the best method of detaching them, and also it doesn't actually combat the real problem - it won't stop people posting in randomness. It might cut it down, I suppose, but the shift won't neccesarily be toward the literary forums.
To that we need positive methods, not negative ones. Like Nate did with the points, we need a reward system. By cutting down randomness we won't create more literary activity. In fact, it has annoyed some people and this might make them even less likely to conform to the expected actions.

Dusky told me she was still looking at the points system, don't know what she's lookin at, I think she should just put it in already. That might incourage people to post more in the lit. forums...

Seriously i don't mind randomness, it is okay taken in doses, but too much and we come to rely on it.
